Salcombe Powerboat School
Based
on the beautiful Salcombe Estuary, Salcombe Powerboat School is a
popular and successful school that attracts boaters of all ages and
abilities. Its run by ex Royal Marine and RYA Advanced Powerboat
Instructor Chris Stidston-Nott who has more than 15 years teaching
experience both on and off the water.
Chris
grew up in the Salcombe area and his knowledge of the local coastline
is second to none. He now heads up a team of highly qualified and
experienced instructors who work together to create a safe and
enjoyable learning environment for all visitors to the School.
With teaching ratios never more than 1:3 you can sign up for RYA powerboat courses from Level1 to Advanced. Alternatively Chris will tailor training to individual requirements, whether on your own boat or not.
Should
you not own, or not want to train on your own boat, the school has a
range of RIBs available for training purposes, all equipped with GPS
satellite navigation systems and VHF radios.
There's also a 'Ribs 4 Kids' programme designed specifically for children aged 8 years plus.

Cardinal Yachts
Run
by RYA Yachtmaster Instructor Bryan Parsons, Cardinal Yachts is based
in Torquay giving excellent access to the wonderful cruising grounds of
the South Devon coast and beyond. Cardinal specialises in motor boat
tuition with RYA practical and shore-based courses ranging from a two
day motor cruising introduction to Yachtmaster exam preparation. GMDSS
VHF Radio and Radar courses are also available. Cardinal prides itself
on both the quality of the boats it uses for tuition and the high
calibre of its RYA Yachtmaster Instructor team. And it's not just about
learning on bigger boats - smaller boat tuition is on offer too,
including RYA Powerboat Level 2.
Any of Cardinals RYA practical courses can be conducted on your own boat if she's correctly equipped - or you may just want some instruction on boat handling, or the operation of onboard electronic systems for example. Bryan is always happy to tailor courses or tuition around individual requirements.
Cardinal is also well versed in sail and motor yacht charter for private or corporate clients and operates an international yacht delivery service. In addition, management training and team building events can also be created to specific briefs. And if you're buying a used boat, Bryan is also an experienced motor boat and sailing yacht surveyor.
